Win Tickets to The 2018 Trackrod Rally Yorkshire!

The 2018 Trackrod Rally Yorkshire promises to be as eclectic and colourful as ever with competitors already signed up to come from as far away as Falkirk and Fort William or Abergele, Ilfracombe and Ashford.

Like the drivers and co-driver, vehicles also span several generations, from the modern state of the art rally cars to those from the sport as we know it’s formative years - the sixties and seventies.

The event has a long history of attracting the nations best drivers, previous winners of the Trackrod Forest stage include big names such as Steve Bannister, Colin McRae and Chris Mellors. Guy Wilks, Ryan and Champion and father and son Gwyndaf Evans & Elfyn Evans are previous winners of the overall event.

Following last year’s success, the hub of the rally returns to the spectacular seaside setting of Filey, with the start and finish along the seafront and the action condensed into the nearby North York Moors forests stages of Dalby, Cropton, Gale Rigg, Staindale and Langdale.

Pure Adrenaline!

After cars have cleared scrutineering (checking for safety and conformity) in Filey, and as the light fades and adrenaline rises, the Trackrod Historic Cup competitors will set the wheels in motion at Friday evening at 7.01pm.

During the hour leading up to being flagged away, crews and cars will line up and be available for photographs, autographs, etc, along the Beach Road.

The cars, all built prior to 1986 and many contesting the final round of the Fuchs Lubricants MSA British Historic Championship, then run together with the ever-popular Land Rover Challenge competitors for a spectacular 10.43-mile night-time stage in Dalby South.

Then on Saturday the ‘Historics’ recommence their 55 stage-mile battle for honours and are joined by the Trackrod Forest Stages Rally competitors, many of whom are chasing points in the final round of the Jordan Road Surfacing BTRDA Rally Series.

Please note: The restart goes straight into the day’s opening stage at Dalby North without visiting Filey seafront again until the mid-afternoon finish.

All the crews from both events undertake Saturday’s concluding 45 miles of challenging forest stages (five different venues) before returning for a ceremonial prize-giving along the Filey’s Beach Road from around 3.20pm onwards.

Both the start and finish are completely free to onlookers, who are encouraged to use special spectator areas in Dalby (Woodyard and Housedale [Saturday only]) and Cropton (Spiers House). All these have facilities such as refreshments and toilet with the famous Woodyard complex also featuring live commentary.
