The Wish List with SWC Trade Frames

SWC has been manufacturing windows, doors and conservatories in Scarborough since 1989.  To celebrate their 25th anniversary they're granting wishes.

We all have something that we wish for...those little wishes that will make us smile and brighten our day.

 We've been granting wishes...

Elizabeth and BernieElizabeth Barthram from Whitby emailed us about her husband-to-be Bernie:

"I wish for you to organise some sort of treat for my husband to be, Bernard Gallon. We are due to get married on Saturday November 1st 2014 in Whitby. Unfortunately he has suffered from a detached retina and after having surgery he has been off work for a month...  We have had to cancel the honeymoon as he had gas put in his eye during the operation which prevents him from being able to fly. It would be lovely if you could organise him some sort of treat whether it’s a couple of days away after the wedding or even a meal somewhere. Thank you very much."

Richard surprised them at their home in Upgang Lane:

Sea Cadets CROPRichard Robinson from Scarborough Sea Cadets got in touch:

"I would very much like to nominate 'Scarborough Sea Cadets'...They are in desperate need for some new Boys & Girls Heads (Toilets, to you and me). The Sea Cadets is purely a self fund raising organisation which receives NO money from either the Royal Navy or Government and so every penny needs to be raised themselves. The Unit is a credit to the town and raise lots of funds for other projects such as the Life Boat Service and the Royal British Legion, to name a couple. The Cadets give these young people a great start in life by building their own self confidence and teaching them skills from sailing, cooking, craftwork and marching as well as producing decent kids of which the town can be proud. The Units 'Heads' are now looking very tired and could really benefit from the skills of SWC and their associates."

Richard met Richard and Niall at the Cadets' Scarborough base:

Sandra and JimSandra Gledhill (pictured here with founder Jim Ward) is part of the team at Scarborough Wildlife Rescue. Their facilities could use a makeover:

"We would like someone who is good at DIY to do a bit of maintenance on some of our pens"

Richard went to meet Sandra at their 2-and-a-half acre plot just off the A171 near Robin Hood's Bay:

Charlotte Edge from Scarborough emailed after a tough year for her boyfriend:

“I wish for a holiday (any holiday!) for me and my boyfriend. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma earlier this year and it has been so hard and stressful for both of us and he has battled so hard, he just deserves a break where he can relax and get his strength back.”

Paddy gave Charlotte a call to let her know they'd be enjoying a two-night stay at The Raithwaite Estate with breakfast, an evening meal and spa treatment.

Tamar Craker from Bridlington just wanted some pampering:

“I wish I could get my hair cut & styled!! I haven't been able to afford it for a couple of years or so, and it just keeps growing. Fine and with split ends, I'm beginning to resemble the Witch of the Yorkshire Coast!”

Tom called with the good news she's off for a cut & finish at Saks in Scarborough.

Pat from Scarborough & Ryedale Carers Resource asked if we could help their young carers with funding for group activities and First Aid Training.

Tom called to their office in Snainton to meet Jodie Peckit and explain how Mike from Raw First Aid & Bespoke Training had offered to provide training for them... and Playdale Farm Park had provided a Family ticket for the young carers to enjoy some fun time.

SWC is an industry award winning family firm of 25 years standing in Scarborough. Established in 1989, SWC now employs just over 100 committed staff. SWC would describe itself as a 'Customer Service' business...who just happen to be a manufacturer!

Proud to be based in Sunny Scarborough, SWC's humble beginnings started in Marlborough street before moving to Barry's lane, then Plaxton Park and now Dunslow Road (since December 2010)...where we shall remain.

SWC's core values epitomise our philosophy of “Building the Future Together” through working mutually in partnership with stakeholders to achieve long term business success.

Our approach to these partnerships, which includes our staff, customers, suppliers and our local community is unparallelled, as is our consideration of the environment. Both these aspects have been positively acknowledged by peers within our industry.

SWC recruits for attitude and trains to give the necessary knowledge & skill. Staff are integral to SWC's success! Nurturing a positive, forward thinking culture that has the ability to secure the expertise needed to succeed in an increasingly demanding & complex marketplace is essential.

Year on year (including the recession), SWC has grown organically & flourished through re-investing its profits in new buildings, machinery, equipment, vehicles people and technology. SWC is an innovative, pioneering business that embraces change & challenge.

We strongly endorse the approach that our customers are the ambassadors for our products and we work mutually to support the growth of their businesses and ours through the provision of market leading products, sales & marketing support and technical expertise.

SWC staff have been unconditional in their support of local charitable organisations.  They have raised valuable funds for very good causes including Movember, St Catherine's Hospice, Marie Curie, Prostate Cancer Research, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Ellie's fund, the Snowdrop Appeal & donating Easter Eggs for local children.

SWC manufactures high performance, bespoke & specialist products including PVCu & Aluminium windows & doors, conservatories and orangeries as well as residential, composite & folding sliding doors; traditional sash windows & shaped/arched frames.  We also have our own in-house paint booth and a very successful Trade Counter outlet.
