 Train to teach in Scarborough schools & be the inspiration a young child needs.

Yorkshire Coast Radio has teamed up with Scarborough Teaching Alliance led by the Outstanding Childhaven Community Nursery School.  If you or someone you know are thinking about a career in teaching then look no further than the School Direct programme.

School Direct is an exciting, hands-on, school-led training programme giving graduate trainees the opportunity to learn from experienced practitioners in schools within the Scarborough Teaching Alliance.

We can offer placements in nursery, reception and key stage 1. Students will access the well-regarded Advanced Early Years PGCE provided by the University of Hull, leading to Qualified Teacher Status

Placements in Key Stage 1 & 2 classes in a range of schools, reflecting the diversity of our communities. Students will access the well-regarded Primary PGCE provided by the University of Hull, leading to Qualified Teacher Status

CREC Early Years Partnership Programme (Early Years & Lower Primary 2-7)

CREC Early Years Partnership Programme

The CREC Early Years Partnership (CEYP) SCITT programme offers a one-year, full-time, early years, school based route to qualification as a primary teacher or early years teacher with QTS including PGCE provided by Birmingham City University.

As an outstanding school Childhaven Community Nursery School was able to apply to become a National Teaching School. Successfully designated in April 2014 it formed the Scarborough Teaching Alliance, a cross phase alliance of 7 schools including nursery, primary, secondary and special.

You need to be a graduate, ideally with a 2:1 or above, although consideration will be given to students with a lower classification who can demonstrate a commitment to children's learning and development.  

How Do I Apply?

How to apply to Scarborough Teaching Alliance

You can search for teacher training programmes starting in 2016 via the UCAs website from 6th October 2015, and will be able to apply to these programmes from the 27 October 2015 via the UCAS website.
