Santa Dash 2015

Here comes the Santa Dash!

Festive family fundraising is on its way to Filey as Saint Catherine’s gears up for its annual Santa Dash and Reindeer Run.

The event covers a 1.5-mile route from Filey Country Park to Royal Parade as one of the hospice’s most colourful events hits the seafront.

And because people can go at any pace they like, from a sprint to a saunter, it’s a fundraiser which attracts all ages.

Hospice fundraiser Louise Gravestock said they hoped lots of people would join in the fun on the morning of Sunday 13 December.

“There’s always such a lovely atmosphere as people get into the Christmas spirit by helping others,” she said. “It’s fabulous for us to see so many families, from babies in prams to grandparents, coming together to support our vital work.

“We’ve already had amazing support as we celebrate 30 years of care and we hope people who’ve never taken part before will join us for this fun way to get the Christmas celebrations started.”

Adults can choose to wear Santa suits or join the younger children who dash along wearing reindeer antlers. The suits are £10 and fit ages 12-plus, or reindeer antlers and flashing noses are £5.

The hospice is also holding its Wear a Santa Suit Day on Friday 18 December when people can go to work in Santa suits or silly Christmas jumpers for a day of hospice fundraising.

As the event falls on the last day of term, the hospice is hoping schools will get involved by holding a Christmas-themed casual dress day to boost Saint Catherine’s.

For details of both events and to register, call the fundraising department on (01723) 378406 or visit the hospice’s website.
