Scarborough Athletic recorded their third successive victory, on Saturday, but there were defeats for other local football sides.

New manager Darren Kelly continues to have a Lazarus-esque effect as Boro thrashed Mickleover Sports 4-1, at the Flamingo Land Stadium in their latest win.

Connor Thomson broke the deadlock midway through the first half and James Walshaw doubled the Seadogs' advantage, within seven minutes. Walshaw's second arrived halfway through the second period, with skipper Michael Coulson hitting a late fourth.

Kelly's side are now in the top half of the BetVictor NPL Premier Division, just five points outside the play-off places, going into a trip to another side who've recently found better form after changing manager, Buxton.

Whitby Town's barren run worsened after losing 1-0 at the Towbar Express Stadium, to struggling Bamber Bridge.

The Preston side recently installed ex-Everton midfielder Jamie Milligan as their new manager after back to back defeats, but brushed aside the Blues after firing the only goal of the game, just before half-time.

The Seasiders missed an open goal late on and lost goalkeeper Shane Bland, who had kept them in the game with a string of saves, to injury, late on.

Bridlington Town's promotion push suffered a blow when they lost 3-0 at home to Bottesford Town, in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League.

Brett Agnew's men lie fifth after the defeat, seven points behind leaders Penistone Church, with three games in hand.

In rugby, there were defeats for Scarborough- 47-21 to Bradford and Bingley and Bridlington, 41-5, at home to Old Brodleians.
