No Wins For Yorkshire Coast Football Trio

It was a disappointing afternoon for Whitby Town, who stay second in the Bet Victor Northern Premier, but saw their eight-game winning run ended by promotion rivals Matlock Town.

Manager by former Scarborough boss Steve Kittrick, the Derbyshire side led seconds before half-time through Dan Brammall's strike. They then doubled their advantage, through Luke Hinsley's header, four minutes into the second half. Late on, Marcus Marshall strengthened the Gladiators' own promotion hopes with the winning third goal.

Blues boss Chris Hardy was understably disappointed:

Scarborough Athletic drew 1-1 with Warrington Town, their fourth home draw in the league, this season. Both goals came within two first half minutes of each other. Scott Sephton put the Cheshire outfit, who just missed on promotion through the play-offs last term, ahead, on 20 minutes. However, within moments, Chris Dawson made it 1-1. John Deacey's men stay 17th.

Bridlington Town were held 0-0 at Knaresborough Town, a result which sees them drop to fourth in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League. Brett Agnew's men led the league last week.

In rugby, Scarborough won 35-17 at Huddersfield YMCA.
