First Wins For Blues and Boro But FA Cup Heartbreak For Brid

As heard on Yorkshire Coast Radio Extra, both Scarborough and Whitby bounced back from midweek defeats to record their first league wins of the season on Saturday, but there was disappointment for Bridlington Town.

Brid lost out on a near-£3,000 pay day after a 3-1 defeat at Pickering Town. Joe Danby had put them ahead early on but that was as good as it got for Brett Agnew's men.

Boro returned to Lancashire after a 5-1 thumping at Stalybridge Celtic, on Tuesday. John Deacey was critical of his side's performance but they served up a much better display against the club formed by Manchester United supporters in 2005.

Deacey's son Jordan scored the crucial goal- James Walshaw had also missed an early penalty.

Whitby Town lost 2-0 at Gainsborough Trinity, but were in better form at Derbyshire outfit Buxton.

Despite falling behind early on, Brad Fewster's brace put Town ahead before Buxton levelled. Matty Tymon made it 3-2, the Bucks again equalised, but Danny Rowe fired home late on to send the Seasiders home happy.
