Three Good Victories For Local Cricket Sides

Scarborough were the only major side on the Yorkshire Coast to lose out on Saturday.

In Yorkshire Premier North, Sam Drury's men fielded first and despite two Ben Elvidge wickets, visitors Yorkshire Academy posted 219/7 from their 50 overs.

Scarborough stuttered to 22/2 in reply but recovered with a 90-run partnership between half centurions Elvidge and Oliver Stephenson. However a collapse of 8 wickets for 45 runs saw them bowled out 42 runs short.

Whitby had better fortune in a low-scoring North Yorkshire South Durham Division One encounter. The experienced Chris Lyth took 5/43 as visitors Bishop Auckland were skittled for 95, at the Turnbull Ground.

The hosts knocked off their target in 24 overs, but that wasn't the full story. Wickets fell at regular intervals and Lyth himself at number ten was at the crease when they edged home by two wickets.

In York Senior Premier action, Folkton & Flixton made 212/9 in their 50 overs against Easingwold. Opener Tom Norman narrowly missed out on a century after being run out for 94.

Easingwold were always up against it and 5/40 from Harry Walmsley helped Folkton & Flixton dismiss their opponents for just 152, with six overs remaining.

Bridlington enjoyed a thumping victory to stay top of Division Two. They look on course for promotion after bowling out Woodhouse Grange 3rds for just 81 and then knocking off their target in just 18 overs without losing a wicket.
