Cricket's National Village Cup holders Flixton & Folkton were well beaten by Pickering, on Saturday, in the York Senior League Premier Divison.

Scarborough weren't in action, due to the Cricket Festival taking place at North Marine Road, but the other three major cricket sides in our region were all denied victories.

Pickering won the toss and batted first, posting 272/9 from their 50 overs. Harry Walmsley took three wickets late on. In reply, Flixton & Folkton put on 44 for the first wicket but were soon reduced to 98/6. They fell well short of their target, bowled out for 170, in the penultimate over, looking to secure a draw. Jack Hatton, batting at number eight, top scored with 38.

In Division Two, leaders Bridlington scrapped to a draw, at home to Stamford Bridge seconds. Their visitors made 245/4 from their 45 overs- Elliot Traves struck twice for Brid. Despite starting strongly, the hosts came up short in their chase but worked hard to bat through their overs to claim a losing draw.

Meanwhile, Whitby did likewise, in North Yorkshire South Durham Division One, as visitors Great Ayton Seconds were put in to bat and posted 265/7 from 50 overs. Finlay Morris and skipper Will Donald took two wickets each. In response, Whitby were indebted to Kai Morris and Paul Buck who put on 70 for the eighth wicket as they clung on to finish 223/9.
