Scarborough Ladies FC Awarded 'Grassroots Club of the Year'

Published at 6:02am 23rd May 2019.

Scarborough Ladies has been named as the 'Grassroots Club of the Year'.

It has been awarded by the North Riding Football Association.

The club has been recognised for their hard work, dedication, passion and commitment to the sport.

The vice-chair and child welfare officer at Scarborough Ladies, Carol Firth, said:

"The entire club is absolutely delighted.

It is just a brilliant end to a fantastic season to be honest.

We're all grinning from ear to ear and we just can't explain how happy we are.

The club's going from strength to strength and to have the North Riding recognise the work that we've done this year is absolutely fabulous.

To be honest, I think it's down to the hard work and efforts of everyone involved in the club.

It's about recognising every girl for who they are, and not what they're capable of.

Every single girl who comes is allowed to play to the best of their ability, and everybody gets their time on the pitch.

Basically we're not just a football club, we are a family and everybody who comes into the club is treated as such."
