Perfect day for Yorkshire Coast footballers

Published at 9:10am 7th April 2019. (Updated at 9:23am 7th April 2019)

It was a perfect Saturday for our big three Yorkshire Coast football sides.

Scarborough Athletic are now just three points from the Evo-Stik NPL Premier play offs following a 4-2 win at Bamber Bridge.

New manager John Deacey's first game in charge saw Boro dominate as Ryan Watson's superb solo strike broke the deadlock on the half hour. After the break, strikes from Michael Coulson and James Walshaw's quickfire brace saw the Seadogs home.

Here's how Yorkshire Coast Radio Extra's Ant Taylor and Will Baines saw Watson's opener:

Whitby Town defeated Marine 2-1 to extend their winning run to three matches.

The Blues came from behind after Brett Mbalanda's low drive. Dale Hopson hit back within two minutes from an impressive curling free-kick, with Adam Gell firing the winner, six minutes from time.

Town man of the match Alex White spoke to Liam Ryder after the game:

In the Toolstation North East Counties Premier, Bridlington Town are back up to third after battering Eccleshill United 7-0.

Joe McFadyen hammered a hat-trick, with player-boss Brett Agnew bagging a brace and Chris Adams striking the seventh.
