Winless day for local football sides as Boro's play-off hopes fade

It was a disappointing Saturday for our Yorkshire Coast big three football sides.

Steve Roberts' first match in charge of Evo-Stik NPL Premier Scarborough Athletic ended in defeat at play-off rivals Buxton. Athletic trail fifth-placed Gainsborough Trinity by four points, with the Bucks sandwiched by the two sides.

Here's how Calum Chippendale's winner sounded on Yorkshire Coast Radio Extra's Ant Taylor.

Athletic have yet to appoint a full-time replacement for manager Steve Kittrick or assistant Chris Bolder, who were dismissed, last week.

Whitby Town also lost by a single goal. Second-bottom Workington edged out Chris Hardy's men thanks to Conor Tinnion's spectacular strike, on the hour.

The Blues are comfortable in 11th spot but the defeat ended a run of one just one loss in five.

It was a better day for Bridlington Town who earned a 2-2 draw at Albion Sports, thanks to a last-minute Jake Day strike. The point keeps them in promotion contention, in third spot.

First half goals from Alhassane Keita and Lamin Janneh had put the Bradford outfit two goals up. However, Day reduced the arrears, three minutes into the second, before striking again late on.
