Scarborough Athletic's management duo have been sacked.

It has been announced on the club's website.

Manager Steve Kittrick and Assistant Manager, Chris Bolder have been "relieved of their duties" with immediate effect.

It comes after this afternoon's home defeat to Stalybridge Celtic, conceding two late goals.

Kittrick led Boro to promotion last season.

Steve Roberts has agreed to take charge of first team affairs in the interim with support from members of the current squad.

In a statement the club said:

"Scarborough Athletic would like to add thanks to the management team of both Steve Kittrick and Chris Bolder for their contribution to the club over the past number of seasons, Steve as Manager and Chris as a player, coach and Assistant Manager.

Both Steve and Chris were relieved of their duties this evening following the 2-1 defeat at home to Stalybridge.

We have been successful over the past three years under the stewardship of Steve Kittrick, reaching three cup finals, reaching the play-offs and having a promotion in our first season back home in Scarborough."

Chairman Trevor Bull said:

"Steve has instigated some fantastic times at the football club. I want to thank Steve and Chris for all they have done for Scarborough Athletic.

Since the end of 2018 our form hasn't been great and have decided that we want to move the club in a different direction next season and we want to start making preparations for 2019/20.

Steve Roberts will take over as manager in the interim and he will be supported by the club's senior players.

With the season still in full swing, a chance of the play offs and picking up some silverware in the offing, our primary targets for the season are still within our reach.

We will be making no further statements on the matter at this present time.

There is nobody lined up as a replacement, we will be asking applicants to get in touch formally.

Each applicant will be judged on their merits, with your elected Board of Directors deciding on who is the best person to take this football club forward into the 2019/20 season".
