Big Weekend For Scarborough Rugby Club

Published at 9:35am 12th May 2018.

It's a big weekend for Scarborough Rugby Club.

Silver Royd is the venue for two county games today (Saturday 12 May) as Yorkshire's men's side and ladies team take on Northumberland this afternoon.

The women's game kick's off at 1.00pm with the men's match at 3.00pm. Then tomorrow, (Sunday 13 May) Scarborough take on Old Rishworthians in the Yorkshire Shield Final at Hull Ionians' ground.

Mike Holder is the Director of Rugby at Scarborough RUFC, he said:

"We're really pleased to get the county teams back again. It's a lot of hard work on our behalf but it's of great value, particularly for the young people that come and watch and see the best players in the county.

Particularly with the ladies' and girls' teams, it's one of our biggest growing areas in the club.

To see the county team come will inspire others to come and join Scarborough. Then tomorrow's game will be interesting.

We beat Old Rishworthians at their place, they beat us at our place in two very close games, so it's going to be pretty exciting.

Ionians have a big, wide pitch, we've got some young quick runners and I'm hoping that will turn the tables."
