Scarborough Athletic want to turn the Flamingo Land Stadium in to a 4000 seat stadium.

That was the ambition outlined by club chairman Trevor Bull at Friday night's fans forum. Now the club have released initial drawings of the plans.

A new stand would be added at the ground opposite the existing stand, some additional terracing would also be added at one end of the ground.

The aim is to both improve the experience for fans attending matches by improving visibility and to increase the capacity at the ground.

The existing capacity at the stadium is 2070 people. If Scarborough were to be promoted next season to National League North they would need a capacity of 3000 and to climb further up the football pyramid to the National League itself would require a 4000 seat stadium.

Reiterating that the club would not spend beyond it's means Trevor Bull confirmed that the club is working with the Football Stadium Improvement Fund on the plans. The fund uses money from the premier league to develop facilities at other clubs.

Trevor bull said the ground improvement plan would be delivered "bit by bit" and would "turn a football ground into a football stadium".
