LISTEN: Boro Boss On Ossett Town Win

Scarborough Athletic

Published at 8:14am 16th August 2017. (Updated at 8:26am 16th August 2017)

Two of our teams on the Yorkshire Coast got their first wins of the season last night.

Scarborough Athletic came from behind to beat Ossett Town in the Evo-Stike Division One North, who had taken an early lead int he sixth minute through Martin Pembleton.

Boro responded with a goal right on the stroke on half-time through a Jimmy Beadle looping header and Billy Logan nodded in from close range in the second half.

There was late drama as Ossett missed a penalty but the Seadogs hung on to claim their first three points of the season.

Boro boss Steve Kittrick said:

Ossett were intent. They're a team that will get in people's faces and that's what they did to us and we panicked.

We told them to just relax and pass it and when we did that, we looked a different side. I thought the penalty was something of nothing.

I just think there's that many bodies, it's been hit against one of our lads who couldn't get out the way and the referee's given handball.

It's fantastic that they've missed it because it could've been a different story."

Meanwhile int eh Evo-Stik Premier League, Whitby Town bounced back from their opening day defeat with a 4-1 drubbing of Stalybridge Celtic at the Turnbull Ground.

The home side took the lead after just ten minutes through Matty Tymon but the visitors equalised through Aron Burns.

A brace from David Carson and an own goal from Alex Honeyball saw the Blues over the line to get their first win of the campaign.
