Scarborough Athletic Striker Leaves the Club

Paul Beesley

Published at 12:12pm 16th September 2016.

Scarborough Athletic striker Paul Beesley has left the club to become the new player/manager of Harrogate Railway.

After joining Boro over the summer, the 32-year-old scored the winner against Colwyn Bay to seal a 1-0 win at the end of August in seven league appearances.

Beesley had played for Harrogate Railway towards the end of last season before joining Boro in June, and his return to Station View marks his first senior managerial role.

Scarborough Athletic manager Steve Kittrick was disappointed to lose Beesley but did not want to stand in his way.

He said: "It's a blow to us because Paul has been a big part of our side so far this season both on the pitch and around the dressing room. You can’t stand in anyone’s way though when they get an offer to step into management.

"Paul rang me and told me the situation. He has had ambitions to go into management for a while and has had experience in the past coaching Harrogate Town Under-21s. He also lives in Harrogate, so it is a fantastic opportunity for Paul. He is a well-liked character in football and I’m sure he’ll do well at Harrogate Railway."

We wish Paul all the best at Harrogate Railway and thank him for his efforts in a Scarborough Athletic shirt.
