Police in Whitby want help with three crimes they are investigating.


A theft has occurred at a contractors site at Shackleton Bridge, near Houlsyke (Lealholm) in the Esk valley, this occurred between 5pm on Friday 24th Feb and 08.30am on Monday 27th Feb. A generator has been stolen from the site which had been secured with a chain and padlock. It is a Ritelite 10KVa generator painted black and blue and is valued at £3500.

Criminal damage has been caused to a Mercedes van parked near the railway lines on Whitby's Marina car park overnight on Wednesday 29th Feb. The passenger door and bodywork has had grafitti drawn upon it along with the letters 'TX'.

At 1.00pm on Wednesday 29th Feb, Whitby police were called to the report of a shoplifter at the Boyes store in Station Square, the female having made off with a large quantity of textiles.

Officers carried out an area search and located the female near to the harbour and swing bridge. The female (62 years old) was detained and property to the value of £280 was recovered from her. The woman has admitted shoplifting and has been summonsed to court.
