World Record Welly-Wanging Attempt For Yorkshire Day

Published by Karen Liu at 7:31am 1st August 2020.

A charity's marking Yorkshire Day today with a welly-wanging world record attempt.

Yorkshire Cancer Research are asking people to upload a video of themselves wanging a welly to social media between 2pm and 3pm today.

Nikki Brady, who is from there, said:

"It's been a difficult time for the charity. It has had an impact on our fundraised income and so we're now looking at other ways to get people involved.

I think the world record attempt is a great example of that, as you don't have to gather in big groups.

Yorkshire is renowned for its countryside and going out, walking in wellies, splashing in puddles and having fun.

You don't have to be a runner, you don't have to climb a mountain, you can get involved in whatever you like to do in some way or form."
