Contact Warning From North Yorkshire's Public Health Director

Published by Jon Burke at 7:10am 20th July 2020.

North Yorkshire's Director of Public Health says we need to know who we're mixing with socially.

Doctor Lincoln Sargeant says, despite the one-metre social distancing rule, if contacts in big groups aren't done carefully, it poses a big risk.

He says we might be ok individually, but the virus can still follow you and be passed on to others.

Doctor Lincoln said:

"If you're going to go out and you're going to be at a gathering and you can't work out these are the people I've been in contact with, particularly face-to-face over a period of time, that, for me, is a trigger to being thinking 'is this really an activity I need to do?'"

He says as society opens up again, passing it on to vulnerable groups, like those in care homes, is a real danger.
