'Take Responsibility' During Coronavirus In North Yorkshire Says Police

Published by Karen Liu at 7:59am 17th July 2020.

The Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police says people need to take responsibility during coronavirus.

Lisa Winward has been speaking after new rules on wearing face coverings in shops were announced, which come into effect next Friday.

She said:

"This is about social responsibility. We want people to keep themselves, their families and societies safe from harm.

We want people to be well, we don't people to lose those who are close to them, their loved ones, through catching the Covid infection.

We want to engage, explain and encourage before we have to enforce as a last resort; but of course we'll work very close with our partners.

I would urge people to do the right thing for yourself, your family and your community."
