Covid-19 Monitoring 'Important' Says North Yorkshire Health Boss

Residents in North Yorkshire are being reminded that Coronavirus has not changed its behaviour.

It comes from the county's Director of Public Health, Doctor Lincoln Sargeant.

He said:

"It still transmits in the same way it transmitted back in January.

It's important that people recognise that although the numbers have fallen, the potential always exists that it could take hold.

If we miss a cluster of cases, it probably could take us about a week and then you have quite a bit of an outbreak on your hands.

So you could go from not being in the league table and in a couple of weeks you could shoot to the top of it.

We need to recognise that's the potential which is why surveillance is so important."
