Big Development Still Needed On Scarborough Futurist Site Says MP

Published by Karen Liu at 11:12am 10th July 2020.

The MP for Scarborough says there needs to be a big development on the former Futurist site.

Robert Goodwill has expressed his views again on what he thinks should be done to the land.

It is currently home to an observation wheel and an adventure golf course.

He said:

"We do need to see a big development on that site. The Council invested £4 million in preparing the site.

I know that there is an offer, which I hope is still on the table, from Flamingo Land to build something really iconic there and sympathetic to the area which has always been a great seafront.

Before the Futurist was there, there was another theatre and before that theatre, there was actually a rollercoaster on the site, so it's probably returning to a site as it was.

I know the Council are in negotiations to ensure we make the best use of that site and local people's views needs to be taken into account as any planning application goes through."

£4m spent to create a big concrete open space.

£22m to be spent on the Argos site.

A huge loan to Alpmare still not paid off.

And then alo NG comes Mr Goodwill spouting the obvious.

Let's not forget this is the man who voted for the closure of Aberdeen Walk post office.

This is the man who voted against NHS staff been given increased virus safety checks.
