Call to Support Hospitality Businesses in Scarborough Borough

Published by Jon Burke at 12:38pm 9th July 2020.

Residents are being asked to support hospitality businesses in Scarborough borough.

It's as they start re-opening, after being closed during lockdown.

People are being urged to have a coffee out, or a meal, to help them get back on their feet.

Deputy Leader of the Council, Liz Colling, said:

"A lot of people didn't open over the weekend and there'll be some staged re-openings this week. For some pubs, if they've got a beer garden and they've got bigger premises, it's maybe easier. It's still complicated, but it may be easier - but some of our smaller cafes and restaurants might be on greatly-reduced capacity and they need our support. We can't just rely on our visitors."

She's also reminding customers to remember everything is different now and to respect hospitality staff, who're trying to protect everyone.
