Overnight Stays To Be Welcomed Along Scarborough Borough

Overnight Stays To Be Welcomed Along Scarborough Borough

Published by Karen Liu at 7:01am 28th June 2020.

Scarborough Borough Council is set to welcome back visitors who wish to stay overnight.

From July 4th accomodation providers like hotels, bed and breakfasts and campsites are allowed to re-open.

Liz Colling, Deputy Leader of Scarborough Borough Council, said:

"What will be easier is if an accommodation is self-contained, so holiday cottages, caravans and camper vans, because if you've got your own loo and shower, that's easy.

If it's a shared facility, so you're using the toilet blocks or the shower blocks and you're camping, or your caravan doesn't have those facilities, then it might be a bit tricky.

Each campsite, if they're going to open, they'll have to put cleaning regimes in place and again, that will vary from place to place.

So easy, as I say, if you're a holiday cottage, if you're a second home owner and I know some of our second home owners have been really desperate to come over; please, you'll be welcome from the 4th of July, and you're a camper van with your own loo. Anybody else, it might be slightly different."

It's basic common sense that's needed now.

SBC spent a fortune on road blocks etc only a few weeks ago so let's see how much they spend to get people back here.

The park and ride sites are still closed, WHY?.

Why close the landward side of the seafront, wouldn't it make more sense to close the side closet to the beach, or just close the whole road between Eastborough and the Aquarium Roundabout.
