Scarborough Borough Urged To Help Fight Coronavirus

Published by Karen Liu at 8:21am 26th June 2020.

People across Scarborough Borough are being urged to do their part to help fight Coronavirus.

The Council says indoor businesses, like pubs, will need to track who has been inside the premises.

It is to help the government's plan to identify those who have come into contact with someone who has contracted COVID-19.

Liz Colling, Deputy Leader of Scarborough Borough Council, said:

"The virus is still out there so anywhere indoors will need to know who's been in, so I think there will be a requirement to sign in.

It might be that if you're in a household, you just sign in as one household so one individual signs in and says 'these people are with me'. So if there's an outbreak, you can be contacted.

It's important that we respect that if we're asked to do it; and although the temptation might be great, please no Donald Ducks, no Mickey Mouses.

Let's be honest and open about this and say who we are."
