The reopening of some of Bridlington's tourist attractions has been welcomed by the leader of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Bridlington Bird and Animal Park reopened this week and Sewerby Hall and Gardens partially reopened yesterday.

Richard Burton says it's great to have the attractions open even if there are still some restrictions.

He added:

"We're now opening parks and gardens and of course Sewerby Hall and Gardens is one of our central attractions.

The Hall itself will still remain closed and that will include the play area and the putting green as such and sadly we're still not able to put any events on yet.

We will be opening the zoo, the gardens, the cafe and the shops

A lot of work has been going on behind the scenes to ensure everything's in place for making sure its safe.

It's another big step really to showcase the fact that a lot of our attractions are now starting to open.

Of course we'll watch government advice and we're looking closely at each step along this road as lockdown happens.

We'll be able to put things in place to enable us to get more open to a new normal and welcome the tourists as we get nearer to that stage."
