Hand Sanitisers Set Up Across Scarborough Borough

Hand Sanitisers Set Up Across Scarborough Borough

Scarborough Borough Council has introduced a number of practical measures to support residents, visitors and businesses.

It is to let communities trade and shop as safely as possible during the Coronavirus pandemic.

The authority has installed 30 hand sanitiser units throughout Scarborough, Whitby and Filey.

Liz Colling, Deputy Leader, said:

"They are currently stainless steel and they are located close by a tree, bench or a bin that already exists.

I would encourage people to use them and we have got those in place for the length of the season.

So everyone local authority has a grant from the government and ours was about £96,000 for the whole borough.

We have decided to use that money to provide those hand sanitisers and refills to see us through the season.

So I hope everybody likes it and they get lots of use."

Eye-catching signage advising people to maintain social distancing, practise good hand hygiene, pick up their litter and pay by contactless payment where possible, has also been rolled out in the borough.

The messages are on street signs and lamppost banners, in shop windows and on floor stickers.
