Yorkshire Coast Students Worried About Missing Education

Published by the Yorkshire Coast Radio News Team at 12:46pm 8th June 2020.

Many students across the Yorkshire Coast are feeling left behind when it comes to education.

That is according to health professional, David Pugh, who has helped refer young people to organisations that can support their needs

It is as some year groups start returning to their classrooms.

David says many pupils in Year 10 are concerned they have missed vital learning ahead of next year's exams, and says they may also suffer other long term effects.

He said:

"It is possible that some of the young people might have anxiety over the next coming months and possibly even years.

But that's where hopefully the support of the various organisations comes in; and it's our job to try and make the young people feel as supported as possible.

Some of them I know have been in touch saying 'actually we're quite worried we've missed out on almost a full term's worth of lessons and work', and they're worried that their education's suffered because they haven't been in school during that period and they think that then is going to impact on their exam results."
