Scarborough Car Dealership On Lockdown Easing Changes

Published by Karen Liu at 2:04pm 5th June 2020.

A Scarborough car dealership says it has had to make a number of changes in order to re-open.

Des Winks started to fully operate since Monday, just like many others.

It is part of government measures to start easing the Coronavirus lockdown.

Andy Veitch, Sales Manager of Des Winks, said:

"We've doubled up desks so customers are sat well over two metres away from our sales advisors.

We've got plenty of clear markings around on the floor so people know what they're doing.

We have tend to find it isn't new for people this. For the last ten weeks, they've been going into supermarkets and they understand.

So it is a little bit easier coming in here with the space that we have got.

It is different. We're not not able to do to anything we were before, we've just got to do things in a little bit of a different way and at the moment with a few less staff.

There seems to be a lot of pent up demand at the moment.

Even during lockdown, when we were fully closed, we actually sold a good number of cars online and enquiries are continuing at a good level at the moment."

Andy has been speaking to Yorkshire Coast Radio's Paddy in the Morning:
