East Riding Businesses Asked To Have Right Measures In Place

Published by Karen Liu at 7:36am 29th May 2020.

The Leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council says it will be good to see businesses in the county start to re-open.

Richard Burton has been speaking ahead of non-essential firms starting to trade again from the middle of next month.

We have already told you how council-run markets will be up and running from Monday.

Richard said:

"As a council, we want to ensure that we give help and guidance wherever possible to ensure that all these shops have a means of being able to open safely.

Clearly every shop and establishment will have their own plans to enable us to have this social distancing.

But I think we're getting strong indications now that we're past the peak of the virus and clearly the message from government is one of 'stay alert'.

At the moment, we've got garden centres and such-like starting to open and they're proving to be popular.

I'm sure as other shops start to open, it's going to become popular as well.

Of course another one is council-run markets are going to be opening from next week, so it will be really pleasing to see that we'll see markets return to the likes of Bridlington."
