Man Stuck On Cliffs Rescued In Flamborough

Bridlington Coastguard has rescued a man who was stuck on the top of cliffs in Flamborough.

Crew members were called to Green Stacks Pinnacle just after 12.30pm yesterday (Monday 25th May), following the report of a male who had managed to climb up and became unable to climb down.

The Coastguard team requested the assistance of rescue helicopter 912 who, once on scene, winched the man to safety.

The man was not injured.

Bridlington Coastguard said:

This incident was avoidable and only raises the risk of COVID19 to our rescuers.

We completely understand the public wanting to get out and about to visit our beautiful coastline, however the guidance is still vitally important, everyone must continue to socially distance where able and whilst visiting the coast please be prepared.

Stretch your legs but not our or resources. Check the weather and tide times, keep a close eye on your family, do not use inflatables on the sea and as always if you see anyone in difficulty dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard."

It says this rescue comes after an extremely busy weekend for HM Coastguard across the country.

Figures released from the agency showed the third busiest day of the year was recorded this week.
