East Riding Museums Celebrate International Day

East Riding Museums are marking International Museums Day, despite the county's facilities being closed at the moment.

Today (Monday 18th May) through to Sunday, 24 May, East Riding Museums will be celebrating Creativity and Wellbeing Week, an annual celebration of the health benefits of being creative.

East Riding Museums will be sharing information on some of their museum objects and encouraging people to get creative on the theme of ‘Lost and Found’.

This theme draws upon items from the museum collection that are made of valuable materials, which were probably lost by previous owners, and have been found by metal detectorists or members of the public before becoming part of the collection.

The campaign will also share information about the benefits of creativity for wellbeing, which is increasingly important in current times.

Anyone interested in finding out more or joining in can visit the new East Riding Museums accounts on Facebook: and twitter:

East Riding Museums are also encouraging people to stay well using the 'Five Ways to Wellbeing'. For more information, visit and follow the link to ‘East Riding Museums – Ways to Wellbeing’.
