Bridlington MP Speaks on Lockdown

Bridlington MP Speaks on Lockdown

Published by Jon Burke at 6:30am 14th May 2020. (Updated at 7:25am 16th May 2020)

Bridlington's MP says the new rules on coronavirus should be observed sensibly.

Sir Greg Knight's been reacting to people being able to travel in England, without restriction.

That change came into effect yesterday and has prompted concerns from many on the Yorkshire coast who don't want visitors - yet.

Greg said:

"I think we need to make sure that seaside communities are not overwhelmed by people coming from a long distance away and want to use facilities like the lavatory - and not really thinking about it beforehand that cafes are not open, pubs are not open, entertainment centres are not open.

They shouldn't come to the seaside at the present time.

What is allowed is not always wise and I encourage everyone to consider the possible consequences of their actions.

The best advice is still to stay at home if possible and if you have to go out, travel the shotest possible distance and keep at arm's length."

He's been speaking to Yorkshire Coast Radio's Jon Burke..

It’s a pity Hollindrake ( MP for Filey and Ryedale ) doesn’t think the same. He’s more or less inviting visitors over. Needs to get a grip on reality. Filey has nearly 40% elderly population who need protecting.
