Is North Yorkshire Ready to Relax Coronavirus Rules?

The Government's warning there'll be no dramatic changes to the UK's strict lockdown measures when Boris Johnson addresses the nation on Sunday.

The Prime Minister is expected to outline a plan for exiting lockdown, but the likelihood of big immediate changes are being down played by officials.

But is North Yorkshire ready for any changes to the rules on coronavirus lockdown?

As of Friday, there have been 1,102 cases of coronavirus in the county since the outbreak began, 263 of those have been in Scarborough.

North Yorkshire's Director of Public Health, Doctor Lincoln Sargeant, says it looks like there may have been a peak of overall cases in the county, but at this point it's difficult to which areas of the county have peaked and which have not..

Speaking ahead of the Prime Ministers address Doctor Sargeant, said:

"Whatever the announcement is, people will still need to maintain sensible social distancing, still need to wash their hands, still need to avoid unnecessary trips and unnecessary contact with people outside their households."

He's been speaking to Yorkshire Coast Radio's Jon Burke..

We're expecting the Prime Minister to address the nation at 7pm tomorrow.
