Plateau In North Yorkshire Coronavirus Death Reports

Plateau In North Yorkshire Coronavirus Death Reports

Published by the Yorkshire Coast Radio News Team at 12:39pm 6th May 2020.

The latest Government figures show that the number of COVID-19 cases being reported in North Yorkshire appears to have plateaued.

And the number of reported deaths from Coronavirus is also easing off.

But the numbers also show a sizeable number of deaths in the county are in care homes.

That is a trend that worries Chair of the Local Resilience Forum, Richard Flinton, who said:

"We're in the region of 155 North Yorkshire deaths reported in hospital settings.

We have a worrying phenomenon that's replicated across the whole country, in terms of deaths in care homes.

In North Yorkshire, we believe in terms of reported deaths, these are not necessarily deaths that have been followed through with testing, we have in the region of 111 deaths in North Yorkshire reported from care homes.

Care homes still represent a significant hot spot in the disease within a context of the downward cycle of the overall curve in the rest of North Yorkshire.

We're still in a serious situation even though we've got that overall situation to report."

'we believe in terms of reported deaths, these are not necessarily deaths that have been followed through with testing' So in other words the figures are just guesswork and make believe! 155 deaths with 111 reported from care homes which may or may not have been from the virus!! We really are living in la la land with this virus.

Agreed, and we also are not being given any figures for those confirmed cases who have recovered
