VE DAY 75: Free Afternoon Tea For Bridlington Veterans

Bridlington veterans are set to get free afternoon tea this Friday to celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day. 

The idea has come from The Ship Inn Sewerby.

Charlie Kilburn, who is from there, said:

"We got in touch with the Royal British Legion Bridlington branch and said for every afternoon tea that we sell, we'll donate one to those guys so that they can donate them to elderly veterans in the Bridlington community.

There'll be 50 of those boxes going out so they can celebrate at home too.

The guys are home, it's such an important milestone and it needs to be celebrated.

They need to know that we're grateful and it's our thank you to them.

So there's sandwiches, quiche, scotch egg, fruit scones, Viennese whirls, caramel shortbreads, there's plenty to go at."
