Yorkshire's Care Homes Showing Positivity in Lockdown

A Yorkshire Coast Care Home boss says the situation in many care homes is nothing like as grim as people might think.

Chris Mitchell is Chairman of Park Lane Healthcare and runs seven care homes around the country including the The Hall at Thornton Le Dale.

All seven are their homes are COVID free.

Chris says the vast majority of care homes have been largely unaffected by Coronavirus and have managed to innovate to cope with lockdown, including finding new ways to keep family and friends connected.

The national figures show around five thousand COVID-19 deaths in Care homes across the UK. Chris says that number needs putting in context as most care homes have remained virus free.

Chris says the way that care home staff have reacted to the crisis has been "first rate" with staff continuing to show their commitment and dedication to the residents they loom after. Chris has this message for the friends and relatives of care home residents.
