Bridlington's Kingsgate Work Rescheduled To Start Next Week

Published by Karen Liu at 11:05am 4th May 2020.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has announced that the delayed final phase of carriageway improvements in Kingsgate, Bridlington, will begin on Monday, 11 May, and is scheduled to last for one week.

The council’s contractor for the works, Tarmac Trading Ltd, have indicated they plan to return to Kingsgate to complete the remaining carriageway reconstruction between House Numbers 1 and 24 on Monday, 11 May for one week.

The contractors will be carrying out the work in line with Government and Public Health England advice on social distancing, to protect the local residents and themselves.

As previously intended, the work will begin at 9am each day and is scheduled to conclude by 5pm each day, and will mean a road closure of Kingsgate between George Street and the B&Q junction.

Anybody who requires to use their vehicle during these working hours should make arrangements to park outside the work area, as access to driveways will be limited.

Dave Waudby, head of infrastructure and facilities, said:

“The council would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience the works may cause, and thank all residents and motorists for your patience during the last few months as we have been working on this major scheme.”

The scheme on Kingsgate has consisted of the reconstruction of the existing footway and carriageway, with a new carriageway surfacing being applied which generates extremely low surface noise levels whilst providing high levels of grip. New footway edgings and channels have also been installed to improve the carriageway drainage.

The work is being carried out with funding secured from the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership’s Local Growth Fund.

This funding was secured following the submission of a successful bid by the council.
