Scarborough Girl In 2-6 Challenge For Children's Hospice

Published by the Yorkshire Coast Radio News Team at 11:05am 1st May 2020. (Updated at 2:05pm 1st May 2020)

Ruby Holder from Scarborough is taking part in the 26 Challenge, an initiative created following the postponement of the London Marathon last weekend.

Her target was to run and cycle 26 miles by Saturday but she's already achieved that and now has her sights set on hitting the 50-mile target by the weekend.

13 year-old Ruby's raising money for Martin House Hospice and Hatton School Of Performing Arts.

It's 12 years ago since Ruby's sister died. She was looked after by the children's hospice. Ruby also attends Hattons and wants to raise money for costumes.

She told Paddy earlier how the challenge is going:

"I was planning on doing 26 miles because of the London Marathon last Sunday. But I'm already at that half way through the week so I'm just going to carry on. I might double it. It's a mixture of cycling and running. I've so far got just over £300 for Martin House and £100 for Hattons so it's going really well".

To sponsor Ruby, you can visit her mum Becky's Facebook page here or call 07793450104.
