A man has been arrested in Scarborough for driving a quad bike while being disqualified from driving.

It happened on Monday night when two officers from the town's Neighbourhood Policing Team were patrolling the north side of Scarborough.

The man on the quad bike was spotted by the officers, who requested the man to stop, but he did not.

The police say vehicle checks were carried out and it showed that it had no valid insurance policy.

Later that night, the two officers were patrolling to find the vehicle and driver and found him walking down the street.

After a short foot chase, the police found him hiding in a garden nearby.

38-year-old John William Chinchen, of West Garth, Sherburn, Malton, was arrested and charged to court for disqualified driving, failing to stop for police and driving with no valid insurance.

He's due in court in June.
