Scarborough Seafest Cancelled

Scarborough Seafest Cancelled

Published by Karen Liu at 6:24am 28th April 2020.

Scarborough's annual maritime weekend celebration, Seafest, has been cancelled.

The event was due to be held for the 22nd time between 17th to 19th July and it has been cancelled due to the ongoing Coronavirus related restrictions.

Organisers have been unable to progress with planning for this year’s event due to the uncertainty surrounding how future national announcements may affect this summer’s large public events and mass gatherings. Their focus is instead turning to arrangements for next year’s Seafest, which will take place during July 2021.

Janet Jefferson, Chairman of the Seafest Committee, said:

“Everyone on the committee is very disappointed that Seafest won’t be taking place this year.

However the event is not alone in being affected by the necessary restrictions that have been placed on us all to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

I would like to thank new and existing Seafest supporters and exhibitors and ask that they join us in planning for next year’s event to make it bigger and better.”
