More Carers Still Needed In The East Riding

More carers are still needed in the East Riding.

The county council is continuing its campaign to recruit them into paid positions.

It is to meet a rising demand during coronavirus.

Richard Burton, Leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said:

"It's about encouraging people to choose care as a career and since the COVID-19 outbreak, never has carers been more important.

We are offering not just jobs, but it's about experience skills and giving training.

It's about paid employment which will be immediate effect on a fixed term, or a casual basis, and I'm pleased to say we're getting a really good uptake on it.

There are still vacancies and there are still opportunities for people to get on board.

If you want to help, please look at our website which is a COVID-19 website and it's on and there's a lot of information about it.

IT's about ensuring that we do our upmost to protect our most vulnerable and care workers and caring is at the forefront of looking after people."

Cllr Burton has been speaking to Yorkshire Coast Radio's Matthew Pells:
