The military is operating a drive-through Coronavirus Mobile Testing Unit in Scarborough.

That is according to North Yorkshire County Council who have issued a statement saying:

"As part of the national roll out of the Key Worker Testing for COVID–19, a military run drive-through Mobile Testing Unit will be operating from Scarborough Seamer Road (A64) Park and Ride tomorrow; Monday April 27, between 11am and 3pm.

Eligible key workers can turn up to the drive-through site without booking.

These tests in Scarborough are available for eligible key workers who are self-isolating because they are within the first 5 days of displaying symptoms of COVID-19.

The tests are also available for key workers who are self-isolating because someone else in their household is displaying symptoms. The householder displaying the symptoms can also be tested at the site with the key worker.

The Scarborough testing site will also be available for children of key workers, aged between 12 to 18, who are showing symptoms. These tests will be need to be conducted by the parent (advice will be given at site).

Eligible key workers will need to bring their work I.D. with them to verify their role and will need to attend in their own household vehicle. Those arriving without identification will not be able to undergo a test.

You can see a current list of key workers eligible for testing on the Government's website."

The site was also operating yesterday.

I have a friend who is a key worker, and doesn't drive, let alone have his own vehicle.

How can he get tested if he feels that he has need to be?
