More Coronavirus Scam Phone Calls In North Yorkshire

North Yorkshire Police is making residents aware of more scam phone calls in relation to Coronavirus.

Over the weekend, they put out an alert about a Snainton resident receiving a COVID-19 scam call, where the fraudster told the resident they can buy gloves, masks and alcohol gels for £29.99.

They then asked for the address and bank details.

The call came from number 02080402745.

North Yorkshire Police say they are now currently looking at reports of phone calls from 02080402745, where the caller claims to be Preservation Order/Society/Group and linked to the NHS or Government saying there is a scheme for over 50s to be supplied with two masks for £29.99 to £39.99.

Anyone who receives a call like this is asked to call 101 to report it and to ask the call taker to assign the report to PCSO 3509 in Scarborough.

This will allow your report to be directed to the correct team.
