Saint Catherine's Thanks Staff And Volunteers On Yorkshire Coast

Published by Karen Liu at 11:42am 22nd April 2020.

Saint Catherine's has launched a 'We Care' campaign.

The charity is wanting to say thank you to its staff and volunteers, as people are coming to terms with a new way of life.

It says their teams are still working hard to make sure patients and their loved ones are cared for at the most difficult time in their lives.

The charity is still there and still looking after patients, 24/7, both in the hospice and their own homes.

The We Care campaign is all about making sure to stay connected – by keeping in touch with the local community, sharing stories that raise a smile and providing people with information about how they can help Saint Catherine’s during lockdown and beyond.

Mike Wilkerson, Chief Executive, has written an open letter:

To all our volunteers and staff currently at home,

The world is a very different place at the moment – and life at Saint Catherine’s feels very different too.

As our frontline staff continue to care for patients around the clock, both in the hospice and at home, we are thankful to those coming in to work every day to keep services going.

We also have a large number of staff who, in line with government advice, are staying at home and staying safe. Our 550 volunteers are also following the same advice and remaining at home.

For those not on social media or email we wanted to let you all know that we are thinking of you all, that you are missed and that we are looking forward to seeing you again as soon as it is safe to do so.

Thank you for your ongoing support – and from all of us here, stay safe and best wishes to you and your families.

Mike Wilkerson

Chief Executive, Saint Catherine’s

He has been speaking to Yorkshire Coast Radio's Paddy in the Morning:

Susan Stephenson, communications and marketing manager, said:

“We have been overwhelmed with the kindness, messages and offers of help from our stay-at-home supporters – we can only do what we do with your help!

So whether you would like to donate, organise a lockdown fundraiser, or send a message of support to our teams, we would love to hear from you. Thank you for caring.”
