Council Leader Thanks East Riding Residents

Council Leader Thanks East Riding Residents

Residents on the Yorkshire coast are being praised for staying in over Easter.

It's after most people seemed to follow the government's rules about social distancing during coronavirus at the weekend.

East Riding of Yorkshire council Leader, Richard Burton, says that's what needed to happen.

He said:

"It's a big thank you, to everybody, really. It was great to see photographs of the coast, looking so quiet over the Easter weekend and I really want to thank everybody who followed government rules and stayed at home to protect the NHS, because clearly that is what happened and it's important that we all do it together.

I know it's hard, because Easter is the start of the Summer seaon, but that message clearly got across."

Councillor Burton has called the few who ignored the rules as 'irresponsible and stupid'.

Can we close the coach park at limekiln Lane, as at the moment it is open for people to park for free. This will encourage people to drive to the car park and go for a walk. We should also close the car park at Sewerby hall, as people should not be driving unnecessarily to then go for a walk. People should be going for a walk, near to where there home is and not travelling by car.
