Hundreds Of Face Masks Delivered To Scarborough Hospital

Hundreds Of Face Masks Delivered To Scarborough Hospital

Published by Karen Liu at 12:42pm 14th April 2020.

There is a renewed appeal for materials to make Personal Protection Equipment for staff at Scarborough Hospital.

It will also be for health workers at various hospices and care homes around the town.

The initiative is a collaboration between Scarborough Business Ambassadors, Scarborough UTC and South Bay Traders Association (SBTA).

John Senior, Chairman of SBTA, said:

"Up to press they have put together 500 masks and 300 of those have already been delivered into Scarborough Hospital, the hospice and into various care homes around the town

This is a short term fix. It's waiting for the bigger companies to come into production of these visors, which have been used by the ICU staff and they've found them to be absolutely brilliant.

So they are accredited by the NHS here in Scarborough.

What we're really desperate for at the moment are the acetate. They're the A4 sheets that fabricate the actual bit that grips your head.

If there are any care homes out there, or any body really, that needs one of these masks then get in touch.

Obviously we're working with hospice and the hospital but we can do our best to get the supplies to you".

John has been speaking to Yorkshire Coast Radio's Kev Roberts:
