More Than 550 Meals Provided To Scarborough Workers

Published by Karen Liu at 12:01pm 14th April 2020.

Scarborough's South Cliff Golf Club have been providing meals to those who need it in the town.

It is co-ordinating with Age UK to deliver them as part of the scheme.

The club's members have been pledging and donating money to make the food, and they have raised nearly £3,500 so far.

Rob Hobson, Vice-Captain, said:

"We did plan to start small to ensure we could operate in a safe way.

We made our first delivery Wednesday 1st April and now we're delivering every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

By the end of Easter Monday, yesterday, we delivered just over 550 meals.

About half have gone to NHS ward staff at Cross Lane Hospital, some to care staff and the rest has been shared between vulnerable people in their home".

Rob has been speaking to Yorkshire Coast Radio's Kev Roberts:

Anyone who needs a meal provided to them can get in contact with Age UK Scarborough via:
