Coronavirus Health Appeal on Yorkshire Coast

Coronavirus Health Appeal on Yorkshire Coast

Published by Jon Burke at 7:00am 10th April 2020.

Yorkshire coast residents are being reminded about the medical importance of staying in this Easter.

The Director of Public Health for North Yorkshire, Dr Lincoln Sargeant, says visiting family members, or anyone else outside your own household, will cause an increase in coronavirus cases.

He says that if we get compacent about social distancing it will have an impact on figures in a matter of days.

Dr Sargeant also says people staying in and following government rules during the lockdown has made a difference and has saved lives

He said:

"If we begin to mix more freely, it will be a matter of days and will begin to see the cases rise again. So,  it's important that people maintain the social distancing, that we do not visit people in other households, we remain in our own home.

It means that our NHS ansd our social care system will be under less pressure. It means our doctors will be faced less with those horrible choices about choosing which person gets that scarce bed in Intensive Care."

He's been speaking to Yorkshire Coast Radio's Jon Burke..

THE EASY ANSWER IS JUST STAY AT HOME TO SAVE YOUR LIFE AND OTHER PEOPLES LIVES. THE MORE PEOPLE THAT STICK TO THE RULES, THE QUICKER THAT THE RESTRICTIONS WILL BE LIFTED.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STAY AT HOME.
